I have been giving Reiki to animals - and people - for many years and have worked with dogs, cats, horses, birds, sheep, fish, chipmunks and hamsters.

Animals may offer an area of their body to the practitioner for Reiki. They will often let the practitioner know when they have had enough - by getting up and wandering off, if they're still awake!

It is often more appropriate to give distant Reiki healing to wildlife. At times young animals may appear to be abandoned and in danger when they are not. I have given Reiki to several young birds - I always check with the local wildlife hospital first that it is appropriate to intervene.

N.B. Reiki is not an alternative to veterinary care so please always consult your vet for any concerns about the health and/or behaviour of your animal companion(s). Please inform the Reiki practitioner of any illness and/or behavioural issues that your animal companion(s) may have.
